Matthew 28:19

The Romans Road

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” That's why this verse sits quietly at the bottom of this site. The Romans Road is a simple way to understand what that means through five verses in order.

Every one of us starts in the same place.

Romans 3:23

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Sin has a cost, and we can't cover it ourselves.

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

But God didn't wait for us to clean up first.

Romans 5:8

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The response He asks for is simple. It is not earned, only believed.

Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

And it's for anyone, no exceptions.

Romans 10:13

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

There is no formula that saves you. Jesus does. If that's the step you want to take, a prayer like this, meant honestly, is enough:

“God, I know I've done wrong, and I can't fix that on my own. I believe Jesus died for that and rose again. I'm turning to You and trusting Jesus as Lord. Thank You for the gift of eternal life.”
